Rooan Al Kalmashi

Rooan Al Kalmashi is a Refugee Advocate & Speaker

Rooan is undertaking her Bachelor of Laws/Arts in International Studies at the University of Technology, Sydney.

Her experience as a former refugee has contributed immensely to her work in policy with Settlement Services International and the United Nations.

Her activism, creativity and writing are essential to her work and in 2019, Rooan was a finalist in the Third Sector Young Leader of the Year Awards - celebrating the best NFP practice right across Australia.

Rooan is also hosting a Culture & Politics Podcast, Who Speaks, which will be launching shortly.
